About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) provides essential support to clinicians in utilizing clinical information systems, primarily focusing on the electronic health record (EHR). This role is crucial for enhancing patient care delivery by customizing EHR content, delivering training, and collaborating with clinical and IT leaders to optimize information systems. The CIS ensures that clinicians can effectively use these systems to improve the quality of care and patient experience.

Requirements

  • RN or a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Informatics, Information Systems, Education, or a related field required.
  • Minimum two years' experience working with a hospital or clinic EHR required.
  • Experience, certifications, and/or proficiencies with Epic preferred.
  • Current license or licensure eligibility to practice as a clinician preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating workflow evaluation and process improvement preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching or coaching clinicians on clinical information systems.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving strategies related to clinical systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct end-user support to clinicians in their use of clinical information systems.
  • Customize and create content within the EHR to facilitate optimal use.
  • Deliver training and enhancement education to clinicians regarding clinical information systems.
  • Assist in coordinating communication regarding system changes, upgrades, and downtimes to clinical users.
  • Triage issues and follow up to ensure resolution of clinician concerns.
  • Capture clinician suggestions for system improvements and communicate them to appropriate resources.
  • Evaluate provider documentation in relation to coding and reporting standards.
  • Participate in the design, build, and testing of clinical information systems enhancements.
  • Conduct periodic chart audits to ensure documentation consistency in the EHR.
