About The Position

As a Clinical Informatics Project Manager you’ll play a vital role in advancing our mission. In this position, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining clinical information systems, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) – both OPO and donor hospitals, integrated OPO systems, and reporting output, to improve operational workflows to maximize donation opportunities. Responsible for analyzing healthcare data, training staff on new systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, troubleshooting software, and acting both as a liaison and project manager between OPO staff and information systems to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency. As a part of a quality systems infrastructure, works with OPO departmental leadership and Quality teams to ensure all operations are compliant and in a “ready state” at all times. Ensures effective execution of all programs, projects, and activities in support of the OPO. Your work will have purpose every single day, contributing directly to life-changing outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Healthcare related field (nursing, allied health, or health informatics)
  • FIVE (5) Years – Experience supporting healthcare technology or working extensively with Electronic Medical Records or Electronic Health Record systems
  • SEVEN (7) Years – Clinical experience within the hospital setting to include critical care, medical/surgical, trauma, ER, pediatrics, cardiovascular, surgical, or transplant center
  • Organ Donation and Healthcare Operations Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of the organ donation and healthcare operations processes. Understanding of medical and legal principles related to organ donation, donor evaluation, and family support.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic planning and interfacing especially for complex or critical products. Impact of regulatory changes on internal processes and products. Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between department/function and business strategy.
  • Information Technology: Demonstrated knowledge of the various types of electronic medical records
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of healthcare environment and state/federal regulatory requirements
  • Project Management: Ability to manage competing projects, budget management, process execution, and lead/influence others to achieve intended outcomes
  • Communication Skills: Written, verbal, and presentation; ability to engage, inspire and influence people
  • Relationship Management: Builds and sustains partnerships across organizational boundaries and functions as well as outside the organization to achieve common goals and outcomes
  • Training and Development Skills: Proficient in Learning Management Systems and e-learning techniques
  • Research/Problem Solving: Leads through analysis of situations with appropriate attention to detail and the big picture including consideration of impact at multiple levels of the system

  • NI-BC – Nursing Informatics Board Certification

Responsibilities

  • Technology Management: Oversees the implementation, maintenance, and management of all electronic systems for the OPO. Ensures that healthcare data is collected, stored, and made accessible to the right people at the right time. Ensures the ability to document accurately within the electronic systems in compliance with regulations. Monitors and analyzes data to support quality initiatives and research. Supports and manages essential system upgrades to ensure continued effectiveness of OPO technology. Collaborates with IS, internal departments, external organizations, and external vendors to optimize data flow between external and OPO systems. Partners with all OPO leaders to ensure technology solutions align with workflows and care delivery models. Oversees access to external EMR systems for OPO staff members. Serves as the Primary designated OPTN UNet Security Administrator ensuring access is enabled and removed as required by OPTN policy. Completes required OPTN Security Administrator audits of all VATB users as required by OPTN policy.
  • Project & Project Management: Using standard project management tools, ensures effective execution of all programs, projects and activities in support of the designated programs [electronic infrastructure] that impact the OPO. Collaborates with other LNH leaders to identify, initiate, and manage improvements to these systems. Works in conjunction with OPO leaders to develop strategies for these systems and effectively engages OPO leaders to deploy initiatives. Develops and monitors metrics and KPIs to measure success of programs.
  • Training & Support: Conducts end-user training on various applications utilized throughout the OPO, aligning training material and project plans with Information Systems to fulfill training requirements. In conjunction with OPO Education team, develops curriculum design, including training materials, classroom exercises, assessments/testing, and learning modules to enhance staff members’ comprehension of the EMR and OPO systems. Provides ongoing education and support to maximize adoption and use of OPO systems and technology. May be involved in training other course content as needed.
  • Operational Readiness: Works with OPO departmental leadership to ensure all operations are compliant and in “ready state” at all times. Manages internal assessment programs and ensures compliance with schedules and corrective actions. Supports any other quality related initiatives within OPO. Ensures all technical training is compliant. Partners with OPO leaders to document technical training. Works with leaders to proactively identify training needs and works with departments to develop training plans to meet those needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyzes the information flow and work processes to find waste, trends, and inefficiencies. Leads cross-functional initiatives to find solutions to improve data flow and overall clinical operations ensuring seamless integration between OPO systems and third-party systems. Serves as the True North point of contact for the OPO.
