About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between pharmacy operations and information technology within the healthcare setting. This position is responsible for providing expert guidance on medication-related challenges and workflows to a diverse audience that includes pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinical and non-clinical staff. As a primary point of contact for pharmacy-related technical issues, the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist works closely with IT to address and resolve challenges that impact hospital pharmacy operations. This role involves active participation in the procurement, development, implementation, customization, maintenance, and enhancement of technology solutions that pertain to medication management. In addition to managing medication-related data and promoting interoperability, the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist is also tasked with engaging in professional development opportunities that enhance pharmacy practice. This includes precepting pharmacy residents and advocating for the technological needs of the pharmacy department within the organization. The position requires a strong understanding of both clinical practices and information technology, ensuring that pharmacy services are efficient, safe, and aligned with best practices. The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist will collaborate with IT personnel and clinicians to identify and implement pharmacy informatics solutions, manage projects across various functional areas, and troubleshoot processes that affect the integration of electronic medical records (EMR) with pharmacy automation systems. This role also involves maintaining up-to-date drug databases, building and testing medication-related functionalities, and participating in organizational initiatives related to medication safety and quality measures. Overall, the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist is integral to enhancing the quality of pharmacy services through effective use of technology and data management.
