About The Position

The Clinical Informaticist plays a crucial role in implementing and supporting clinical technology applications at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This position advocates for user needs, coordinates support requests, and ensures safe patient care by developing and delivering effective technology solutions. The Clinical Informaticist acts as a liaison between clinical departments and Information Systems & Technology, providing expertise and consultation on the integration of technology into clinical workflows.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • State or national license in a clinical field, e.g., Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), Medical Technologist (MT), or Dietitian/Nutritionist.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Nursing or allied health field.

  • Experience in pediatrics
  • Experience in implementing or supporting clinical information systems and/or advanced computer skills
  • Experience in Epic

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a business partner with service lines, departments, individuals, and coworkers.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of system capabilities, applications, and processes to function effectively as an educator and expert for system users.
  • Advises clinical operational users on integration of technical systems with their workflows.
  • Participates actively in routine meetings with department heads and/or superusers to identify, document, and prioritize their needs.
  • Performs rounds with departments to maintain casual interface with individuals and focus on relationship-building.
  • Coordinates operational and capital project requests with appropriate Information Systems & Technology and operational teams.
  • Acts as contact point with Information Systems & Technology regarding system down time.
  • Provides technical support services.
  • Provides Epic and other applications software support, file maintenance, and build for break-fixes, optimizations, special updates, upgrades, and implementations.
  • Provides assessment, coordination, documentation, release note review, testing, and implementation of programming, upgrade, and project requests.
  • Maintains strong and positive relationships with all application vendors.
  • Provides on-call coverage as scheduled.
  • Provides project management services and support.
  • Follows Information Systems & Technology project management protocol.
  • Advocates user perspective and focuses on ensuring a comprehensive support plan and documentation.
  • Works with end users to navigate the project request process.
  • Ensures compliance with Information Systems & Technology, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Joint Commission, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides system solutions in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Follows prescribed change management and time reporting processes and documentation requirements.
  • Responds to support calls within designated times according to priority and provides regular updates until resolution.
  • Provides and communicates clear documentation for support, status, and issues resolutions.
  • Remains current on Epic new version training for all applicable Epic certifications.
