About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, Virginia, is hiring a Clinical Infection Preventionist to join our team. In this role you are responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of site-specific infection prevention and control initiatives, and for the support of surveillance activities at the division and system level. Responsible for ensuring state, federal (i.e. Centers for Disease Control), regulatory and accreditation standards are met to include required communicable disease reporting. You will provide leadership and expertise to site-specific administrative and clinical staff leadership through rounding, staff education and training, and promotion of evidence-based/best practices to improve quality outcomes. Position Available Full-Time; 40 hours per week There may be local travel and On Call

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree. (Preferred from an accredited university or college with emphasis in nursing, clinical quality improvement, microbiology, epidemiology or related field)
  • Individuals who hold a license or certification are required to hold and maintain that credential.
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e. Certification in Infection Control, or CIC, preferred. Required within one year of eligibility.
  • Two (2) years in healthcare

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred two (2) years infection control and prevention
  • Expert knowledge of infection surveillance, prevention, and control standards and initiatives, as well as performance/process improvement concepts preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
