About The Position

The Clinical Imaging Education and Quality Specialist is responsible for advancing clinical excellence and quality within the imaging department. This role develops and implements educational programs for nursing and technologist staff, ensuring high standards of patient care and professional development. Serving as a bridge between clinical practice and education, the specialist ensures that staff remain current with evidence-based practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include reviewing and maintaining all Imaging Department policies and procedures, monitoring quality control reports, providing timely feedback to clinical practitioners, developing content for annual competency completion, and conducting regular in-service trainings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiology, Health Sciences, or a closely related field preferred.
  • One of the following required: ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or RN.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in hospital setting in one or more of the following areas in diagnostic and procedural: Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, Neuro Intervention, Vascular, EP, Radiology, CT, US, Nuclear Medicine, and/or MRI.
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and coordinating clinical education to support staff development.
  • BLS and ACLS required or obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of ACR, NRC, TJC and DOH standards and regulations.
  • Experience in adult learning principles, instructional strategies, and evidence-based practice. Knowledge in healthcare quality control and assurance practices.
  • Strong public speaking, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively teach and mentor diverse groups of learners.
  • Proficiency with educational technology, learning management systems, and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and problem-solving skills to drive change and implement improvements.
  • Strong ability to organize, schedule, and evaluate training programs.
  • Develop educational content for staff competencies to meet department needs.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical education and learning needs in each modality.
  • Work collaboratively with department leadership to orient, maintain, and validate staff competencies.
  • Develop and maintain on-boarding practices for all students and new employees.
  • Demonstrates continuing competence in area of specialty through certification maintenance, continuing education, and performance.
  • Ensure that educational activities are congruent across the modalities and with the VMC's Mission, Vision, Values and Goals and are based upon identified needs.
  • Program and curriculum development: Design, create, and implement new and existing educational programs, including new-hire orientation, continuing education, and annual competency training.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to nursing and technologist staff and students in a clinical setting to develop and validate skills and clinical judgement.
  • Evaluate nursing and technologist practice and staff learning needs through observation, review of quality metrics, and collaboration with leadership to identify gaps in knowledge and skills.
  • Develop and revise evidence-based policies and protocols, ensuring they align with current research and organizational standards.
  • Actively participate in quality and safety initiatives by monitoring key performance indicators and implementing educational interventions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Train staff on new medical equipment, procedures, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Organize and present in-service training sessions, workshops, and educational modules using a variety of teaching methods, including virtual and classroom formats.
  • Work with nurse managers, directors, and other interdisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate, and evaluate educational activities.
  • Serve as a role model and coach for both new and experienced staff, promoting professional growth and a culture of lifelong learning.
