About The Position

The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Idaho invites applications for a remote, full-time, Clinical Assistant Professor of Theatre with expertise across a wide range of graduate-level theatre subjects. This non-tenure track position will begin Fall 2026 with a 3/4 teaching load.

Requirements

  • Expertise in graduate-level theatre subjects.
  • Ability to teach remotely in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.
  • Familiarity with Canvas Course Management System is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate courses in Shakespeare Scholarship, including pedagogy, history, and rigorous text analysis.
  • Teach graduate courses in Feminist Theatre Practice, encompassing drama literature, theatre history, and contemporary intersectional feminist directing.
  • Teach graduate courses in Directing, covering history, theory, and applied practice.
  • Teach graduate courses in Theatre Pedagogy, including culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches, Shakespeare pedagogy, and bootleg/fugitive pedagogical practices.
  • Teach graduate courses in Theatre for Social Change, such as Theatre of the Oppressed, Playback Theatre, applied theatre history and theory, practice, and program design.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities.
  • Engage in unit, college, and university-level governance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
