About The Position

Cardiac Rehab Clinical Exercise Physiologist DESCRIPTION OF POSITION/RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Plans and implements cardiac education for all assigned patients as ordered by the physician both pre and post procedure. Writes and calculates exercise prescriptions and plans appropriate exercise care for all assigned patients as ordered by the physician both pre and post procedure. In collaboration with nursing, effectively assesses, plans and implements, and evaluates the education and exercise plan of care for both inpatients and outpatients. Plans and presents appropriate educational offerings in the department as well as at community functions and health fairs. Effectively collaborates and communicates with a multidisciplinary team including dietitians, pharmacists, physical therapists, social workers, case management and diabetes education. Maintains and cleans exercise equipment in an effective manner after patient use. SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Post graduate degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology If possible, minimum of 1 year clinical experience in the field of Clinical Exercise Physiology/Cardiology/Cardiac Rehab CPR and ACLS certification required. Preferred license by the state as a CEP - Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACMS). Voluntary member of AACVPR, and pass the CCRP certification after one year. Competent in computer skills/ exercise equipment. Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers and medical personnel; Basic math skills. Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrates foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Physical Demands/Work Environment Work required days: Monday-Friday, rotating weekends, and holidays depending on the needs of the unit/department/service. Requirements

  • Post graduate degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology
  • CPR and ACLS certification required.
