About The Position

The Clinical Ethicist at Novant Health is responsible for conducting clinical ethics consultations across multiple acute care and ambulatory centers. This role involves providing recommendations to medical providers and care teams regarding ethically justifiable actions in patient care, facilitating interdisciplinary team meetings, and engaging in complex goals of care conversations. The Clinical Ethicist also plays a key role in educating clinicians and staff about ethics concepts and resources, ensuring that ethical considerations are integrated into patient care practices.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Bioethics, Nursing, Medicine, Law, or related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care setting conducting complex ethics consultations.
  • Licensure as needed (RN, LCSW, MD, etc.) preferred.
  • HEC-C certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical ethics consultation and program building.
  • Strong self-direction and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with state statutes related to end-of-life decision making and healthcare decision makers.

Responsibilities
