About The Position

Directs, coordinates and governs all functions related to safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical patient care equipment. Provides training and technical leadership to appropriate patient care personnel regarding equipment operations, standards, and maintenance. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. In lieu of a High School Diploma/GED, 9 years of experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • 1 of the following certifications is required - , Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES) - International Certification Commission, Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Uses technical knowledge and skills to support projects and integration of networked medical systems to improve current and future healthcare technologies.
  • Investigates risk management and public relations issues and takes required action, including reporting according to applicable procedures.
  • Manages device alerts and recalls for all medical equipment, communicates relevant information with appropriate AC staff, and ensures corrective action is implemented and properly documented.
  • Reviews Capital Equipment proposals for proper configuration and selected options.
  • Negotiates with vendors for service manuals, technical training, and service contracts for capital equipment purchases.
  • Hires, terminates, evaluates, coaches, counsels, develops, trains, engages and motivates staff.
  • Develops quality improvement processes that include goals and performance targets.
  • Leads and supports ongoing activities that promote safe practices and a safe environment.
  • Prepares, justifies and administers departmental and program budgets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
