About The Position

Clinical Engineering (CE) Tech I is an entry-level position responsible for the maintenance and service of assigned medical equipment. Performs various tasks associated with installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a limited scope of clinical equipment under the guidance and/or direct supervision of an experienced peer or supervisor. Serves in a variety of job-specific roles and clinical environments including but not limited to Hospitals & Clinics, Surgical Centers, Home Healthcare, Dialysis Centers, Central Processing Departments, Clinical Laboratory, Information Technology or the Repair Depot Service Center. This is a Temporary Position Essential Functions Basic understanding of medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology. Knowledge of basic troubleshooting and repair techniques to perform equipment repairs. Ability to perform preventive maintenance procedures on low/medium risk medical equipment. Possess the skill to utilize tools and test equipment required for job duties and responsibilities Adherence to confidentiality requirements and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI). Competent in using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for documentation. Basic understanding of regulatory requirements pertaining to medical equipment management. Skills Communication Customer Service Individual Development Regulatory Compliance Medical Equipment Management Data Entry Time Management Computer Literacy Safety and PPE Continuous Improvement Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc. May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Physical Requirements:

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with Medical Equipment or maintaining / repairing equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow protocols and processes relating to equipment maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in clinical engineering or an equivalent field is preferred.
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree or completion of a Biomedical Technician Certificate Course is preferred. Education will be verified.
