About The Position

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Clinical Educator collaborates with the Inpatient Director, Emergency Department Manager, Respiratory Services, Quality, and Infection Control teams to support nursing and clinical staff through orientation, onboarding, and ongoing professional development. Key duties include organizing continuing education programs, creating learning modules, performing needs assessments, and planning future educational initiatives. This role also coordinates training and competency validation for new equipment and maintains the hospital-wide web-based policies and procedures platform. Provides clinical education for all nursing staff and other clinical departments as needed. Assists with program planning for all nursing departments based on needs assessment, including provision of programs/in-service/classes/self-study modules within the appropriate scope of practice. Onboards all nursing staff. Facilitates nursing orientation with assigned topics that meet regulatory compliance as well as facility specific needs. Collaborates with Nursing and Respiratory Leadership to develop and implement department specific education plans. Assures that all nursing orientation and annual education modules are competency based. Assists with development and implementation of preceptor and orientation programs on each nursing unit, including Lead RN training, Nurse Supervisor training, and department cross- training. Evaluates and oversees development, administration and monitoring of mandatory in-service modules. Track and record progress and completion of all mandatory education for nursing staff and others as assigned. Coordinates and maintains education calendar for staff onboarding, annual education and other clinical courses as needed, for example BLS, ACLS, PALS, ESI, NIH, Telemetry, etc. Coordinates Annual Education for all nursing staff with Nursing Leadership and Chief Nursing Officer. Maintains and oversees the web-based policy and procedure program with the assistance of Quality and Clinical Education Manager. Maintains and ensures the integrity of Staff Development, Competency and Education files for each Nursing employee. Participates in performance improvement, quality and patient safety activities with data collection, tracking and monitoring. Assists in maintaining compliance with DOH accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including code of conduct. Facilitate communication with Human Resources department and Nursing Leadership on employee failure to meet expected education standards or lapse of certification. Works with the Staffing Coordinator to coordinate dates for nursing staff onboarding and orientation. Performs duties in a cost-effective manner, in an effort to avoid waste of hospital resources without jeopardizing quality of care and service. Ensures staff understanding of and adherence to infection control, patient safety and risk management guidelines. Develops individualized learning plans for staff requiring remediation or performance improvement. Acts as a role model for clinical excellence, professionalism, and organizational values Assist with Cardiac Rehabilitation coverage as assigned. Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Previous experience in nursing education, classroom teaching, or clinical instruction.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor with knowledge of NIH and ESI
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, Telemetry
  • Strong Computer Literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) proficiency
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective communication with members of the healthcare team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed oral, written, and illustrated instructions
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of medical equipment and instruments
  • Exercises informed judgment; acts competently; assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care
  • Maintains professional competency through continuing education
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and accountability for actions and outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years clinical/bedside experience as a Registered Nurse preferably in a hospital environment preferred.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other applicable fields such as Health Informatics, or Information Technology preferred
