About the position

The Clinical Educator provides education for all hospital employees with a focus on clinical staff. Also provides educational support for some non-clinical staff. They recognize and communicate with directors, managers, staff, physicians and administration to provide the education necessary to maintain The Joint Commission accreditation and other industry standards for the hospitals condition. They respond timely to educational needs in a variety of teaching methods that include lecture, online learning, group discussion and direct observation. They are responsible for coordinating and prioritizing activities in the education in conjunction with the Education Manager. They work collaboratively with colleagues and nursing leadership to ensure that safe, quality care is delivered in a learning environment that fosters a world-class patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates clinical orientation; evaluates new hire process.
  • Provides in-services, continuing education and real-time training in primary service line.
  • Teaches classes, provides individual instruction, assigns in-services ideas to staff members to develop and teach using adult learning theory.
  • Assists with evaluating and documenting staff performance of clinical skills.
  • Interacts professionally with each nursing unit to determine their specific educational needs and to coordinate educational programs to meet those needs.
  • Performs continuous evaluations of training programs to determine effectiveness.
  • Develops instructional materials including learner objectives, content, written/skills testing materials, self-study modules, and references (within 5 years) to meet Florida Board of Nursing CEU providership standards.
  • Participates in performing annual needs assessments, both hospital-wide and pertaining to Service Line.
  • Demonstrates patient care equipment; organizes demonstrations of patient care equipment by vendors'/manufacturers' representatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required
  • Current Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS
  • ACLS
