Apply today! JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Education Manager, the Clinical Educator will serve as a resource person for all staff in the OSS Health system. With the input of managers and supervisors, the Clinical Educator will coordinate training and orientation for all new staff of the clinical areas, as well as keep all staff aware of standards of practice related to their areas. The Clinical Educator helps coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of OSS Health clinic performance improvement and plays a supportive role in ensuring compliance with all Joint Commission, Department of Health and other regulatory standards for all outpatient areas. Schedule: On-site with some remote work. Travel to OSS locations required.

Requirements

  • Licensed and currently registered as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania with significant orthopedic background; preferably with Inpatient and/or Perioperative experience.
  • Current CPR, ACLS and PALS certification required.
  • Clinical expertise in hospital or outpatient setting (orthopedics experience preferred).
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to the changing roles and responsibilities of education at OSS Health
  • Excellent computer skills required (including Microsoft Office and Windows).
  • Ability to self-educate and develop a thorough knowledge of Joint Commission standards, Department of Health and performance improvement techniques.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent communication skills required (verbal & written) in order to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and write clear and concise routine reports with assistance, as needed. Skilled at designing forms, retrieving data and effectively expressing results of such to management and staff.
  • Must be able to work independently at times and with minimal supervisor in order to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to organize multiple complex and diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Must understand and respect confidentiality.
  • Ability to exchange information on factual matters, communicate in a variety of manners with patients, staff and explain policies of the organization. Ability to apply basic understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Light physical effort; some standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping; manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment; detail oriented; able to maintain a pleasant and courteous demeanor under all circumstances. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in education and teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Company’s performance improvement process, identifies performance trends and prioritizes and recommends improvements. Assist with coordinating the implementation of the performance improvement program that meets the needs of patients, staff and external agencies.
  • Ability to create and develop learning modules in software development programs
  • Assist with coordinating clinical orientation program, in the outpatient/inpatient clinical setting
  • Assist with coordinating certification/recertification of staff in CPR, ACLS and PALS
  • Works with clinical areas to develop, facilitate and coordinate educational needs and content for both patient and staff education. Develops and manages community education programs, as assigned.
  • Assists with coordinating annual clinical competency program.
  • Communicates new product information, arranges in-services for new equipment and coordinates the evaluation of trial products.
  • Assists in CQI programs, helping to ensure that necessary requirements as outlined by policy and procedure, PA DOH, and Joint Commission are met.
  • Develop continuing education credits for various clinical departments.
  • Represents education department on clinically oriented committees. Works within educator role in clinical areas to develop & facilitate processes and tools related to outcome objectives from committees including FMEA, RCA, & sentinel events.
  • Assist with the development/management of departmental policy and procedure. Performs duties in accordance with established clinic policies and procedures, OSS objectives, performance improvement activities, safety, confidentiality, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Assist with the coordination of opening any new OSS facilities, with respect to compliance, competency, regulatory policy and procedures.
  • Participates in the process of continuing education, both as a provider and recipient of services. Attends all mandatory in-service programs and maintains professional education requirements.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe working environment throughout all the outpatient/inpatient clinical sites, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Implements performance improvement plans and consistent training and follow-up with clinical staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
