About The Position

The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, to support its teaching, scholarship, and service programs in response to anticipated growth in primary care services throughout the CSRA region. Clinician Educators in the DFCM provide academic support in all years of MCG's curriculum. Faculty course involvement includes preclinical electives and interdisciplinary required courses and a six-week Family Medicine distributed clerkship. The department also sponsors hospital and ambulatory, research, public and population health, and vulnerable population electives. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Requirements

MD, DO or equivalent
Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Pediatric Residency Program
Board certified (or board-eligible) by the American Academy of Pediatrics
Eligible for licensure in Georgia and credentialing at MCGs partner Academic Medical Center
Collaborate effectively in a team setting
Work in a high-stress, fast-paced, high-work volume environment
Make judgments in demanding situations
React to frequent changes in duties and volume of work
Understanding of working in a medical setting as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Familiarity with ACGME requirements for a Family Medicine Residency Program
Understand the basic principle of student evaluation and grading
Customer Service
Computer and electronic health record
Work independently and seek consultation necessary
Effective communication
Maintain effective relationships with patients and other members of care team
Engage patients in therapeutic relationships when appropriate
Confrontation and conflict resolution
Administration and organization
Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

Patient Care (Seeing private patients and precepting residents)
UME instruction and other efforts
Precept residents in the DFCM Clinics
Provide clinical education to medical students in the DFCM Clinics
Provide didactic education to medical students and residents periodically
Participate in the creation of scholarly activity
Provide clinical care for a panel of patients (panel size will be based on cFTE)
