Reporting to the Associate Dean and operating under the Office of Academic and Student Advancement, the Clinical Education Director provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for all supervised field education and practicum experiences within the MSW program, serving both on-campus and online students. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, accessibility, compliance, and continuous improvement of agency-based education in alignment with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS). This role serves as a strategic leader responsible for guiding the continued evolution, growth, and innovation of the Agency-Based Education enterprise. The Director leads efforts to enhance systems, workflows, staffing models, agency partnerships, and student support structures in alignment with best practices, emerging trends, and technologies in social work field education, and the School’s commitment to equitable access, accreditation integrity, operational excellence, and student success across residential and online learning environments. The position requires the implementation of structured accessibility and communication systems to support students enrolled across multiple U.S. time zones and evening instructional schedules, reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusion, equity, and student success. Supervisory Authority This position provides direct or indirect supervision of faculty consultants/liaisons, administrative staff, and assigned graduate or undergraduate student workers Nature and Scope Internal contacts include the Dean’s Office, senior administrators, program directors, faculty, students, and staff; HUSSW committees; and university-wide units such as the Office of Student Accessibility, University Counseling Services, and the Office of General Counsel. External contacts include agency supervisors and administrators, third-party online program partners, community organizations, CSWE and other accreditation entities, licensure bodies, and vendors. This is an onsite position. Operational availability is required to support students and faculty across PST, MST, CST, and EST time zones, as well as evening academic schedules during peak periods such as orientation, registration, and graduation.

Requirements

  • MSW from an accredited institution
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience with program evolution or systems redesign
  • Advanced knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards
  • Experience managing agency partnerships and student placement outcomes
  • Strong leadership, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DSW, EdD)
  • Social work licensure
  • Experience with online or hybrid academic programs
  • Familiarity with academic technologies (Workday, Course Dog, placement platforms)

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Program Governance · Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for Agency-Based Education across all MSW modalities · Serve as the institutional expert for agency-based education governance, policy development, and operational decision-making · Represent Agency-Based Education on School and University committees to ensure alignment with academic and student success priorities
  • Systems Design & Modernization · Lead the continued evolution and modernization of the Agency-Based Education function by enhancing systems, workflows, and operational models to build capacity for current and future program needs · Implement scalable, technology-enabled systems for student intake, placement tracking, agency management, and compliance monitoring · Advance and formalize standardize processes that support scalability, equity, transparency, and a consistent student experience across modalities as agency-based education continues to grow · Lead change management initiatives to support faculty, staff, students, and agency partners through operational transitions
  • Student Accessibility & Learner Support · Design and manage a student-centered accessibility framework enabling students to proactively communicate availability, work schedules, learning needs, and accommodation considerations · Establish service standards and response expectations to ensure equitable access for all MSW students · Oversee student placement support, remediation strategies, and escalation processes when placement challenges arise
  • Agency Partnership Development & Oversight · Recruit, evaluate, approve, and maintain agency partnerships · Establish agency quality standards and site evaluation protocols · Serve as final authority for agency continuation or termination
  • Accreditation, Assessment & Compliance · Ensure alignment with CSWE EPAS standards · Lead accreditation documentation, reporting, and assessment · Maintain governing manuals, policies, and procedures
  • Administration & Supervision · Supervise staff, ABE faculty, and student employees · Plan, oversee, and ensure the delivery of comprehensive orientation and ongoing training of students, ABE faculty, and staff · Set expectations, conduct evaluations, and manage performance · Oversee operations during peak academic cycles
