About The Position

Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to join our team! Facilitates improvement in the overall quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation. Obtains appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing and other patient care staff and facility coding staff to ensure that clinical documentation reflects the level of service rendered to patients is complete and accurate. Educates all members of patient care team on documentation guidelines on an on-going basis. Maintains positive and open communications with physicians, interdisciplinary care team members, and coding staff. Meets and/or exceeds productivity and quality expectations as outlined by department policy, including but not limited to number of average daily reviews, missed query opportunities, clinician response rate, and clinician agree rate.

Requirements

  • Either a bachelor’s degree in nursing OR an associate degree in nursing along with 2 years CDI experience) or bachelor’s degree in allied health field
  • 5 years acute care hospital experience
  • Active RN Licensure
  • Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Personal Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine, Photocopier, Printer, and electronic medical record.
  • Knowledge of ICD 10 and DRG Guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical documentation integrity, clinical quality improvement, utilization review, discharge planning, or case management experience preferred.
  • Coding experience preferred.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills and ability to integrate knowledge.
