This position is responsible for scheduling patient and clinical staff home appointments, ensuring nursing compliance with orders, and maintaining staff productivity.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting
  • One (1) year experience as a dispatcher/scheduler
  • Ability to effectively communicate and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to multi-task while working in a complex and stressful environment

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma preferred

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient and staff appointments and enters required information in the computer system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Verifies demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or caregiver.
  • Tracks various aspects of care requirements including date of care delivery, orders, supervisory visits, certification periods and re-hospitalization.
  • Communicates changes in orders to care delivery staff.
  • Schedules staff at or above required productivity levels.
  • Ensures schedules are accurate according to orders and insurance authorization.
  • Monitors and reviews field staff timeliness with documentation and reports findings to management.
  • Communicates in an effective and professional manner with Physicians, ancillary departments, nursing units, physicians’ office staff, insurance companies, as well as patients and their families.
  • Completes thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
