About The Position

The Clinical Services Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for clinical operations within PathPoint's Behavioral Day Services and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care, compliance with regulatory standards, and the implementation of evidence-based practices. The Director collaborates with organizational leaders to advance clinical excellence and innovation in services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Director brings expertise in clinical behavior interventions and skill acquisition programming, serving as a key liaison between individuals and their support teams to uphold best practices and deliver high-quality services. Core responsibilities include supervising ABA related staff and contractors as assigned, providing ABA consultation to individuals served by PathPoint's Behavioral Day Services, conducting functional analyses and assessments, designing and implementing ABA strategies, and supporting the development and implementation of new ABA related services within PathPoint. Additionally, facilitates adaptive life skills training and provides clinical guidance to associate behavior analysts and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) on Behavior Support Plan implementation and documentation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or related field
  • In current good standing with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in behavioral health or developmental services.
  • Familiarity with services within the California Regional Center system of services and support.
  • Ability to lift/move 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to operate computer, telephone, and office equipment.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Requires stationary work for prolonged periods of time and moving from location to location.
  • Regular travel between PathPoint offices via automobile required.
  • Routine travel to Ventura County locations expected, infrequent travel to San Luis Obispo and Kern Counties.
  • Anticipated travel time is about 25% of scheduled work time.
  • While supporting in the behavioral program employee may frequently be required to stand, walk and sit.
  • When needed, the employee must be able to utilize professional trained techniques of physical intervention to escort, redirect or impede a wide range of behaviors from highly productive and adaptive to extremely aggressive and disruptive.
  • Physical intervention, such as immobilization may be necessary to prevent individuals from harming themselves or others during a crisis behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage clinical operations for Behavioral Day Services and ABA programs across assigned regions.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical staff, including Behavior Analysts, BCBA candidates, and BCBA contractors as assigned.
  • Serve as a consultant and trainer to local program leadership overseeing Behavioral Day Services.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure programs adhere to best practices and meet all state, federal, and accreditation standards (CCR, Title 17, Title 22, CARF Accreditation).
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitor, document, and report on the performance of the assigned departments, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee documentation, reporting, and audits related to clinical services.
  • Promote ongoing education in behavioral health and ABA methodologies.
  • Partner with internal departments to integrate clinical services into organizational goals.
  • Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, including families, funding sources, and regulatory agencies.
  • Determine department structures, staff positions, levels, schedules, and workflow; adjust work schedules and staffing levels to ensure that organization goals are met efficiently.
  • Provide regional oversight between program locations as needed to ensure program oversight and clinical guidance for behavioral services.
  • Create and monitor Behavior Support Plans (some created by external consultants) as needed.
  • Assess and train direct support staff (e.g., collecting reliability data on programs and assessments, monitor treatment integrity), as well as provide supervision to assigned BCBA candidates, BCBAs and Registered Behavior Technicians.
  • Conduct assessments, develop interventions, and use relevant behavioral data to monitor individual performance and make treatment decisions for a limited caseload.
  • Provide ethical, effective, and practical behavior analytic interventions for persons served.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as an instructor of crisis response programs taught by the Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) or any other crisis response program, as needed.
  • Coordinate and provide instruction of PCMA courses – or other crisis response program - to PathPoint staff.
  • Keep informed regarding both internal and external issues that affect the day-to-day operations of the assigned departments, including external stakeholder relations.
  • Develop and implement procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the departments.
  • Manage operating expenses and capital expenditures within the approved budget.
  • Assist with new program expansions and contribute expertise in the creation of behavioral service lines.
  • Review all behavioral Special Incident Reports (SIR) and Observation Reports; review and evaluate staff response to SIRs resulting in physical interventions; identify trends in behavioral SIRs and provide program specific training as needed.
  • Practice in accordance with applicable laws and regulations as a mandated reporter, company policies, as well as the BACB ethical guidelines.

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for self, persons served, other employees and community.
  • Ensure that all work sites are in compliance with PathPoint safety standards and safety program.
  • Support Program Coordinators as needed to ensure compliance with Community Care Licensing standards and any applicable Regional Center quality assurance requirements.
