About The Position

The Clinical Director for Outpatient Services is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight to clinical staff in outpatient care settings. This role ensures that services are delivered in accordance with best practices, regulatory standards, and organizational goals. The Clinical Director manages clinical operations, develops and implements policies, and supervises clinical teams to ensure high standards of care, patient safety, and positive clinical outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing, social work, healthcare administration, or a related field. Doctoral or clinical degree (e.g., MD, DO, PsyD, or PhD) is often preferred.
  • Current and valid clinical license (RN, LCSW, or other appropriate certifications depending on specialty).
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or healthcare setting, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience in managing a multidisciplinary team, with knowledge of outpatient care operations and clinical workflows.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and quality improvement methods.
  • Proficient in healthcare management software and electronic medical records (EMR).

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to outpatient clinical teams, including physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff performance, offering guidance for professional development.
  • Collaborate with administrative leadership to ensure alignment of clinical and operational goals.
  • Oversee the daily clinical operations of the outpatient department, ensuring efficiency and compliance with organizational protocols.
  • Ensure that outpatient services meet the clinical, safety, and quality standards required by state, federal, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols, guidelines, and procedures to enhance patient care and workflow.
  • Monitor clinical practices to ensure they meet all regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, JCAHO, etc.).
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and clinical service delivery.
  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments of clinical services, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure ongoing clinical education and training for staff, keeping them informed on best practices, new treatments, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide leadership in recruitment, training, and retention of clinical staff.
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings, case reviews, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that outpatient services are patient-centered, focusing on high-quality care and service delivery.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and resolve any issues related to care delivery or service concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated care, particularly in multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial management for outpatient services.
  • Allocate resources effectively and ensure cost-effective delivery of clinical care without compromising quality.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with other department heads, administrators, and stakeholders to ensure effective care coordination.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical staff and administrative leadership.
