Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (Commission on Dietetic Registration).
• State of CT Certification.
• Maintenance of required PDP (Professional Development Portfolio) which specifies 75 CEU per 5 year period through Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• State Certification, as required.
• Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate MediTech electronic medical record system and other computer-based systems, which manage patient-care records.
• Ability to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MS applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to effectively utilize the hospital's interpretation system (MAARTI).

Responsibilities

• Assesses the nutritional status of adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients through documentation in the medical record.
• Uses parameters such as anthropometric measurements, visual assessment and interpretation of laboratory values and interviewing patient and family as appropriate.
• Accurately assesses and calculates formulations for parenteral and enteral nutrition and makes adjustments based on patient's clinical status.
• Develops and revises a nutrition care plan based on information from the patient, medical record, family and health care team members.
• Communicates effectively with all healthcare and food service team members as well as patients and families through conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings, individual consultation and committee participation.
