About The Position
This position provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition, ongoing reassessment and follow up care, and nutrition education services for both patients and staff.
Requirements
- Completion of any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN).
- Basic knowledge of subspecialty areas including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, and oncology.
- Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year.
- Keep current of new findings/research.
- Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment.
- An Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire).
- Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.
- Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care.
- Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices.
- The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff.
- Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility.
