About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian at Riverside Healthcare is responsible for delivering comprehensive nutritional care to both inpatient and outpatient populations. This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing nutritional interventions based on the patient's diagnosis, medical history, and prescribed diets. The Clinical Dietitian collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to ensure patients receive appropriate and individualized nutritional care. This position also plays a key role in patient and family education, ensuring nutritional adequacy, and documenting patient progress in medical records. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university with a major in food/dietetics or related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) eligible with the American Dietetic Association
  • Illinois state dietitian license (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).

  • Dietetic internship or other ADA approved program

Responsibilities

  • Assess the nutritional needs of patients by reviewing medical records, diagnoses, and prescribed diets.
  • Plan, initiate, and monitor nutritional care tailored to the individual patients condition and needs.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers including physicians, nursing staff, and other team members to provide integrated care.
  • Conduct patient and family educational sessions regarding diet modifications, nutritional needs, and healthy eating habits.
  • Interview patients and/or family members to gather pertinent nutritional information and understand dietary preferences or limitations.
  • Provide follow-up care and complete detailed nutritional assessments for high-risk patients.
  • Review and prioritize patient care based on department screening policy standards.
  • Document all nutritional assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the patients medical record.
  • Serve as a resource for nutrition-related information to both the healthcare facility and the community.
  • Assist in developing and updating departmental policies and procedures related to nutritional care.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Support the facility in implementing various wellness programs and initiatives.
