Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field
  • Registered Dietitian or RDE (RD Eligible) as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Licensed as a dietitian / nutritionist by the State where work is being performed.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific, population specific, and diagnosis related care to patients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving, time management and decision making skills

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess nutritional status of patients.
  • Initiate medical nutrition therapy to achieve patient goals.
  • Establish nutrition diagnosis and develop individualized plan of care with appropriate interventions.
  • Re-assess / Monitor patients to evaluate the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy and adjust patient’s plan of care.
  • Evaluate process towards goals.
  • Accurately assess, prescribe, and maintain nutritional interventions for enteral and parenteral supported patients.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and timely discharge.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served including: newborn, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Serve as a resource lecturer for healthcare providers, students, and the community.
  • Precept dietetic interns for supervised practice experience.
  • Compliance with all local, state, federal, and medical center regulatory, safety, sanitation, and security standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement (PI) studies, assist with data collections and supports action plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
