The Clinical Dietitian provides nutritional expertise to medical and clinical staff, patients and families. Strives to improve patient outcomes and decrease hospital cost and length of stay by adhering to medical nutrition therapy protocols and providing nutritional education to patients, family members and staff. Relies on some experience and judgment to complete job. Works under general supervision.

  • Assess nutrition status of patients
  • Manages nutritional care plans
  • Educates external customers, patients, and co-workers as needed
  • Integrates data to provide medical nutrition therapy for patients
  • Promotes positive nutrition outcomes
  • Assists in taking food orders based on patients' diets
  • Involved in Performance Improvement Initiatives for the Department and Hospital
  • Other duties as assigned by Management and/or Director
  • Bachelor's Degree and Completion of Accredited Dietetics Program
  • Working Knowledge of Nutritional Care Process
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Excellent Verbal Communication
  • Proficient in computerized data entry
  • Good critical thinking skills
  • Good time management/prioritization skills
  • Current Louisiana State License or Provisional License Dietitian/Nutritionist
  • Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Eligible through the Commission of Dietetic Registration
  • Certification in Adult Malnutrition
