About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian Specialist in the Neonatal ICU is responsible for working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to promote wellness, maintenance of current health, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness. The role involves communicating the nutrition plan with the interdisciplinary team, performing nutrition assessments, and identifying nutrition diagnoses; recommending and implementing nutrition care plans based on evidence-based practice. The specialist identifies appropriate nutrition diagnosis and malnutrition criteria, as well as age-specific physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs when carrying out patient activities. Practicing as an expert in the application of the nutrition care process and theory within a specialty area is essential. Documentation in the medical record using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' standardized language as part of the Nutrition Care Process is required. Additionally, the role includes precepting, teaching, and coordinating learning experiences for dietetic interns/students enrolled in the JHHS dietetic education programs, while supporting the needs of the department/hospital to facilitate essential operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience managing parenteral and enteral nutrition for neonates.
  • Experience calculating custom formula recipes.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Licensed as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) in Maryland, or eligible to apply for licensure prior to hire.
