The position involves providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including assessment, nutrition diagnosis, and intervention to manage patient care. The role requires consultation with physicians and healthcare personnel to develop nutrition plans, documentation of care processes, and participation in quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in food and nutrition or dietetics.
  • Licensed as a dietitian in the state of Georgia, or is licensure eligible.
  • Entry level Registered Dietitian position.
  • Maintains competency in adult and geriatric nutrition.
  • Competent in basic computer skills.
  • Must obtain registration and/or license within 2 months of hire date if not currently registered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients in an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting.
  • Consults with physicians and health care personnel to develop a nutrition plan using the Nutrition Care Process.
  • Documents care process in the medical record.
  • Identifies problems, collects data, and takes corrective action for quality improvement projects.
  • Precepts the activities of Emory Dietetic Interns under supervision.
  • Participates in presentations on nutrition-related topics.
  • Confirms diet orders and assesses appropriateness of diet prescriptions.
  • Develops and implements nutrition care plans and monitors patient progress.
  • Coordinates implementation of cultural, religious, and medical requirements with FNS.
  • Provides nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers.
  • Participates in medical rounds, discharge planning, and patient care conferences.
  • Utilizes patient education materials consistent with guidelines and evidence-based practice.
  • Maintains licensure and registration by participating in continuing education activities.
