About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Lead Clinical Dietitian, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for coordinating patient Medical Nutrition Therapy to ensure high quality food service and nutritional care is provided to the patients. Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs. In accordance with TJC, local, state and federal agency standards, completes Screenings, Comprehensive Nutrition Assessment, Care Plans, Nutrition Education and Re-assessment utilizing the Nutrition Care Process for patient’s with complex medical needs. Participates in interdisciplinary care planning, including team meetings. Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy Counseling Services to out-patients and families with complex medical needs. Provides in-service training to employees. Participates in Departmental Quality Improvement activities. Preceptor for Dietetic Interns and HOSA students. Provides Community Presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science with a major in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of Internship through a program approved by the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • One-year clinical nutrition experience in a hospital preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian Eligible: Must successfully complete requirements for Registered Dietitian within 6 months of employment.
  • Texas Licensed Dietitian (Must obtain Texas Licensed Dietitian within 6 months of employment).
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
