The Clinical Dietitian (Registered) at Memorial Regional Medical Center is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the nutrition component of the Program under the supervision of the Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Certified as a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association.
  • Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition.
  • One to two years of supervised practice experience in foods and nutrition.
  • Previous experience in health promotion and/or cardiac rehabilitation programs.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development from adult through the geriatric stage of the life span.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement nutritional component, including curriculum, of programs offered through Cardiac Wellness Center and Heart Vascular Institute.
  • Evaluate content and modify as needed, ensuring it meets the objectives of the program and is appropriate for the specific population.
  • Access online scheduler daily to schedule, cancel, reschedule, and block appointments as needed.
  • Provide one-on-one nutrition consultations to individuals who have scheduled appointments.
  • Document visits as part of the patient’s medical records and notify referring physicians of these consultations.
  • Assess patient nutritional status using appropriate and established practice standards.
  • Use effective interviewing methods to collect and validate appropriate data.
  • Access and review relevant medical records and discuss patient’s condition with appropriate medical staff.
  • Collaborate with the patient to set nutrition goals appropriate to the nutrition diagnosis and patient’s readiness to change.
  • Evaluate and chart in patient’s ITP on patient progress towards nutrition and weight goals.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback/recommendations to patients regarding progress and outcomes.
  • Identify patients in group programs who need one-on-one nutrition counseling.
  • Communicate with program director, cardiac nurse, and/or medical director regarding any patient difficulties.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in ongoing program development.
  • Participate in hospital, community, and professional education programs relevant to nutrition and wellness.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the clinic, including scheduling of patients and fielding phone calls.
