VCU Health is opening a new clinic to care for obese patients with stages I-IV chronic kidney disease who are initiated on GLP-1 medications. Patients will be followed closely by the MD and RD. The RD will provide nutrition counseling on how to optimize the patient’s diets in addition to promoting lifestyle changes. The RD will spend part of the time downtown in our outpatient facility and the remainder providing follow-up telehealth visits. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in cutting edge care for renal disease. Excellent communication skills are a must for precepting dietetic interns and daily interactions with a variety of health care providers.
