About The Position

Leads the operational, clinical, and developmental aspects of the Pediatric Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Program at Miller Children's and Women's Hospital, Long Beach while supporting service line-wide training and clinical readiness across pediatric cardiac care settings. Key responsibilities include staff onboarding, competency development, and ensuring program quality, aligning strategies with service line priorities to support ECMO readiness and clinical development. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgement in evaluating complex issues, making decisions on significant matters, and developing solutions with minimal direction from senior management. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years pediatric cardiac critical care and ECMO (ECLS) management experience preferred.
  • Proven track record in clinical education, onboarding, and competency development for nursing staff.
  • Strong leadership skills in program coordination, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement.
  • Advanced knowledge of ELSO guidelines, regulatory compliance, and ECMO readiness protocols.
  • Expertise in simulation training, skills validation, and performance coaching for high-acuity pediatric care.
  • Excellent communication and mentorship abilities to guide nursing teams in ECMO transitions and professional development.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state (must be in good standing) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Additional coursework or advanced training in pediatric critical care, ECMO management, or clinical education preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
