The position involves facilitating efficient and accurate entry and retrieval of data, providing consultation, advice, and skill mentoring regarding database structure, use, and report writing. The role includes carrying out quality control monitoring of data entry and providing direction to database-assigned clerical staff in collaboration with their supervisor regarding prioritization and processes for data entry. Additionally, the position entails carrying out more complex data entry tasks, including abstracting data from medical records. The individual will conduct periodic time studies on data entry tasks throughout the department or Center for workload monitoring efforts of the management team and provide time-saving tools for data collection. The role also requires utilizing report writing software to create reports for various purposes, such as reporting to registries like the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), completing insurance contract requests for information (RFIs), and supplying data to clinical, operational, and research projects as assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, the individual will serve as a liaison to Information Services staff in the implementation of software upgrades and new installations, including testing of data after installations are completed, and, if applicable, external agencies such as National Registries & UNOS, by serving as Site Administration for data-related issues.
