Job Summary The Clinical Risk Strategist is a senior, hybrid clinical and analytics role responsible for translating complex medical and pharmacy data into actionable risk insights that help employers manage cost, improve health outcomes, and make informed benefit strategy decisions. This role combines deep clinical risk assessment and population health expertise with advanced analytics ownership and executive-ready reporting. The Clinical Risk Strategist works closely with consultants, service teams, analytics vendors, and internal clinical leaders to ensure insights are accurate, defensible, and strategically relevant.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing medical and pharmacy claims data in a healthcare analytics, population health, or benefits consulting environment
  • Strong understanding of chronic condition management, utilization drivers, and healthcare cost dynamics
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to produce polished, executive-ready deliverables
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex clinical and analytical concepts to non-clinical audiences
  • Experience with healthcare analytics platforms, data warehouses, or population health tools
  • Experience supporting employer-sponsored health plans, captives, or stop-loss environments
  • Experience with predictive modeling, risk stratification, or clinical forecasting
  • Active clinical license required (RN)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical risk assessments using medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility, and utilization data to identify high-cost drivers, emerging risk, and gaps in care
  • Evaluate the prevalence, impact, and trajectory of chronic conditions, catastrophic claims, and rising-risk populations to inform employer prioritization and strategy
  • Support high-cost claimant and large-claim reviews by synthesizing clinical context, treatment pathways, and cost trends into clear strategic implications
  • Align identified risk with appropriate clinical, wellbeing, navigation, or cost-containment solutions while staying current on evolving clinical and vendor trends
  • Serve as the primary owner of the analytical workstream for assigned clients, with accountability for data accuracy, integrity validation, and reconciliation across medical and pharmacy data sources
  • Interpret utilization, cost, demographic, and risk stratification trends over time to identify material shifts in risk profile, cost drivers, and emerging opportunities
  • Design, maintain, and evolve repeatable analytical frameworks that support core deliverables, targeted deep dives, and strategic decision-making
  • Partner with analytics platform vendors and internal teams to identify, escalate, and document data issues, limitations, and methodological considerations
  • Synthesize complex clinical and financial findings into clear, executive-ready insights that emphasize implications and recommended action
  • Lead the development and delivery of client-facing materials, ensuring insights are accurate, defensible, and aligned with client strategy
  • Partner with consultants and service teams to shape the narrative, validate recommendations, and align on priorities and next steps prior to client discussions
  • Clearly communicate data limitations and assumptions to ensure appropriate interpretation and use of findings
  • Serve as a clinical and analytical subject matter expert for internal stakeholders, including consulting, wellbeing, underwriting, and leadership teams
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of reporting templates, insight libraries, and clinical review best practices across the Health Strategy Team
  • Support internal enablement by providing clinical and analytical guidance to consultants and service teams outside of formal client deliverables
  • Support mentoring and knowledge-sharing across the team, particularly related to clinical interpretation, data accuracy, and insight quality
