The Clinical Data Analyst at RUSH University Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting the research, clinical, quality improvement, and business data analysis needs of the institution. This position is integral to assisting clinical faculty and Principal Investigators in identifying and gathering necessary data that spans operational through research needs. The Analyst will be responsible for building databases that allow for effective queries, thereby facilitating the analysis of complex data sets. Reporting directly to the Knowledge Management Team, Medical Director, and Chief Analytics Officer, the Analyst will work closely with subject matter experts in data access and research data requests. This role exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values, and requires adherence to Rush policies and procedures. The Analyst will gather business and data requirements from clinical faculty and Principal Investigators, collaborating on the best methodologies to design studies or build study cohorts based on their knowledge of available systems. They will act as an interface between clinical experts and IT, determining the feasibility, timelines, and costs associated with data requests. Utilizing third-party software tools and the research data warehouse, the Analyst will develop queries and visualizations, creating research data marts that align with the enterprise IT architecture. Additionally, the Analyst will participate in analytics-based projects that leverage data collected from electronic medical records to measure and predict patient outcomes, working alongside statisticians and mathematicians to design predictive models using statistical and machine learning methods. The role also involves developing analytic data sets for research and operations, utilizing statistical software such as SAS or R to analyze data sets as requested by departmental faculty. The Analyst will produce reports that facilitate evidence-based clinical and financial decisions, collaborating with the CRIO/CMIO/Knowledge Management team to develop new data queries and toolsets. As a member of the IT business intelligence/knowledge management team at Rush, the Analyst will maintain peer relationships and engage in collaborative knowledge exchange with IT counterparts.
