The employee must meet the THR Telework Policy guidelines, including, but not limited to, 90 days of successful onsite training, compliance with productivity standards, residency in the State of Texas, etc. Require in-person attendance, as needed, to department meetings, trainings, and other department authorized activities. Work hours: Monday - Friday from 8am - 5p. A team of clinical RN Abstractors and non-clinical support staff responsible for centralized abstraction of CV registry data. Although a remote position we have a very active team who engages in virtual collaborations for job support. Opportunities to work with a multi-disciplinary team for performance improvement initiatives.

  • Responsible for the review and abstraction of clinical data from patient medical records for the purposes of submission to the appropriate regulatory and/or registry reporting databases.
  • Responsible for helping ensure compliance with nationally recognized quality patient care processes and clinical outcomes.
  • Abstraction of clinical data from the medical record into the appropriate database(s) using appropriate guidelines and specification manuals.
  • Validates cases to ensure they meet inclusion criteria.
  • Maintains productivity standards and accuracy expectations for abstraction.
  • Ensures protected health information following all HIPPA laws and THR Protocols.
  • Submission of abstracted data according to established deadlines.
  • Ensures data is complete and accurate prior to submission following policies and procedures.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Collaboration with appropriate team members and/or stakeholders (Data Integrity, Coding, Service Lines) to resolve data discrepancies and obtain missing documentation.
  • Participation on various multi-disciplinary teams for the purposes of assisting with identifying performance improvement opportunities.
  • Participation in continuing education for patient populations and regulatory/accreditation updates.
  • Assists with ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
  • Associate's degree in nursing required or Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • 3 years experience as an RN in a clinical setting required.
  • 1 year auditing/abstraction experience preferred.
  • AHA GWTG - Stroke Registry Abstraction experience preferred.
  • Texas RN license upon hire required.
