About The Position

Clinical Data Abstractor RN Clinical Data Abstractor RN Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together Work location: This is a remote/telework work position. Work hours: Monday – Friday from 8am – 5p Department highlights: A team of clinical RN Abstractors and non-clinical support staff responsible for centralized abstraction of CV registry data. Although a remote position we have a very active team who engages in virtual collaborations for job support. Opportunities to work with a multi-disciplinary team for performance improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required or
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • 3 years experience as an RN in a clinical setting required
  • Texas RN license upon hire required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year auditing/abstraction experience preferred
  • AHA GWTG – Stroke Registry Abstraction experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the review and abstraction of clinical data from patient medical records for the purposes of submission to the appropriate regulatory and/or registry reporting databases.
  • Responsible for helping ensure compliance with nationally recognized quality patient care processes and clinical outcomes.
  • Abstraction of clinical data from the medical record into the appropriate database(s) using appropriate guidelines and specification manuals.
  • Validates cases to ensure they meet inclusion criteria.
  • Maintains productivity standards and accuracy expectations for abstraction.
  • Ensures protected health information following all HIPPA laws and THR Protocols.
  • Submission of abstracted data according to established deadlines.
  • Ensures data is complete and accurate prior to submission following policies and procedures.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Collaboration with appropriate team members and/or stakeholders (Data Integrity, Coding, Service Lines) to resolve data discrepancies and obtain missing documentation.
  • Participation on various multi-disciplinary teams for the purposes of assisting with identifying performance improvement opportunities.
  • Participation in continuing education for patient populations and regulatory/accreditation updates.
  • Assists with ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
