About The Position

The Clinical Counselor completes psychosocial assessments, provides input to treatment plans, implements therapeutic interventions, and assists with discharge planning for patients and families. Provides psycho-education, support groups, family education, and other therapeutic activities. Identifies and intervenes with high-risk circumstances. Complies with all legal and regulatory reporting, intervention, documentation, and referral requirements. Collaborates with treatment team, collateral contacts, and community agencies as assigned. Advocates for patients and families and provides connections with internal and external resources. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of social work, psychology, or counseling related field
  • Minimum six months experience with specific age group
  • Experience in a behavioral health setting preferred
  • Knowledge of specific age groups
  • Knowledge of laws and procedures for reporting to regulatory agencies
  • Knowledge of clinical, legal, and ethical standards of practice
  • Ability to read, write and speak English with professional quality
  • Ability to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
  • Ability to relate, collaborate, and communicate positively and effectively with others
  • Ability to work calmly and respond courteously under pressure
  • Ability to diffuse aggravated situations with patients and families
  • Knowledge of group process and interview techniques
  • Ability to identify need for supervision/consultation and utilize appropriately
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone
  • Ability to think critically and work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and compose written material
  • Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Ability to recall information with accuracy and pay close attention to detail.
