Under the general direction of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, the Clinical Counselor (CC) works in Medical Services, Integrated Care & Complex Patient Populations Division. The CC applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license, for the purpose of treating incarcerated individuals with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and the effectiveness of preventative skills and behaviors developed for wellness. The CC performs assessments that assist with and facilitates transitional care planning and coordination that links incarcerated patients with resources. This position is located at the California Medical Facility (CMF) in Vacaville, CA, and is part of the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT).

  • Apply counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques for treating incarcerated individuals with Substance Use Disorder.
  • Perform assessments to assist with transitional care planning and coordination.
  • Link incarcerated patients with resources for effective treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Promote patients' successful reintegration into society and reduce recidivism.
  • Possession of a master's or doctoral degree in counseling or psychotherapy.
  • Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
  • Unlicensed individuals must secure a valid license within four years of appointment.
  • Candidates must take the licensure examination at the earliest possible date after employment.

  • Possession of a valid Associate Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
  • Salary range of $7,294.00 - $10,378.00.
