About The Position

Provide educational and therapeutic support to IWU students. The Clinical Counselor must be a Christian committed to the Lordship of Christ and respectful of the Wesleyan Tradition. This means having a Biblical worldview and involves a transformation in every area of one’s lifestyle. The Clinical Counselor should continually seek opportunities to grow. She/he needs to have strong character through the regular practice of spiritual disciplines. The Clinical Counselor should have a developed vision for what God can do in the student body through the programs and services in The Center for Student Success. The Clinical Counselor’s efforts are enhanced by the skills of compassion, responsibility, teachability, creativity, collaboration and flexibility.

Requirements

  • According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
  • Masters Degree in Counseling or Social
  • Two (2) years counseling experience with young adults preferred
  • Indiana state licensure or working toward Indiana state licensure as an LMHC, LMFT or LCSW
  • Knowledge of DSM and ICD evaluative procedures and commonly used clinical counseling assessments
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented counseling environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for relating effectively with: Individuals with diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds Community service professionals Education professionals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Integrate the Christian faith into counseling practices
  • Provide counseling to, and make referrals for, students with personal counseling needs
  • Maintain files for counselee and adhere to record-keeping policies
  • Participate in outreach and training opportunities
  • Stay current in the literature concerning advances in psychology and counseling practices
  • Active weekly participation in clinical supervision meetings
  • Manage Special Projects
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Counseling
