About The Position

The Clinical Counselor is responsible for managing a caseload of clients providing therapy services to address a multitude of needs. They are responsible for the evaluations and treatment plans for the new clients being added to their caseloads as well as the development and maintenance of client’s currently on their caseload. The Clinical Counselor is also responsible for maintaining communication with their clients parents to discuss progress and treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work from a CACREP/CSWE accredited university.
  • LCPC or LCSW licensure in the state of Illinois.
  • Prior experience working with children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss provision of family therapy services for parents of children with verbal communication skills able to engage in talk therapy age 3+ and provision of individual sessions age 5-6+ pending clinical evaluation.
  • Perform initial evaluations of client needs.
  • Conduct behavioral observations, implement long-term and short-term interventions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide detailed documentation and records of evaluations and treatments.
  • Address issues such as depression, bullying, various mental health issues and learning difficulties in children by providing appropriate psychological intervention.
  • Adjust communication patterns to the age and level of understanding of the child, including nonverbal means of communication.
  • Provide support and advice to the child’s parents about every angle of their care that has to do with the therapy needs of the child.
  • Conduct risk assessment and initiate appropriate crisis interventions.
  • Provide psychoeducation to clients, families and internal team members.
  • Serve as a clinical supervisor to LPC/MSW/MA level prepared team members.
