Position Summary: Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director, the MedSurg Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the medsurg units, including direct supervision of departmental personnel, data collection and aggregation, and adherence to quality care delivery. The MedSurg Clinical Coordinator assists in establishing and evaluating departmental goals and developing departmental policies and procedures and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care delivery via current standards of practice. Basic Qualifications: Education: Requires an Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. Experience: Requires two to four years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: Requires a current state license as a Registered Nurse and is listed in good standing with the state’s Department of Professional Credentialing. Requires current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS). (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.) Essential Job Responsibilities: Provides oversight and supervision of the medsurg nursing staff. Utilizes the nursing process to ensure the nursing staff conducts appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Ensures the nursing staff implements and documents the patient responses to treatments/medications. Analyzes and evaluates the resources needed (staff and materials) to provide a clinical environment conducive to delivering safe and cost effective quality care. Investigates patient complaints and/or incidents, initiating corrective action and/or disciplinary action. Prepares staff schedules that are aligned with the patient acuity and census. Serves on various committees and taskforces concerning patient care, safety, security, quality, performance improvement, and staff-related issues. Works closely with the departmental Director to recommend and maintain organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish Nursing’s operational goals and objectives. Provides staff with opportunities to participate in staff development and identifies training needs and conducts training sessions accordingly. Assists in the preparation of probationary and annual employee evaluations that accurately reflect the employee’s performance during the evaluation period Ensures that departmental quality, satisfaction, and regulatory compliance standards are consistently either met or exceeded. Performs other duties as assigned.
