About The Position

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for assisting and monitoring FVCC students during the Radiologic Technology program clinicals.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the occupation to be taught, OR An equivalent number of years of postsecondary education in the career/technical discipline, combined with work experience in the career/technical discipline
  • Current Registered Technologist in Radiography (RT(R)) certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Montana Radiologic Technologist license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to comply with Northwest Health Center Dress Code Policy (HR 530) and radiology department guidelines
  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
  • Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and community
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships
  • Ability to follow and issue directions
  • Demonstrated communication, technology, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, observes, and instructs students during clinical training.
  • Correlates clinical training with didactic training.
  • Coordinates clinical schedules with clinical rotation sites, to include: scheduling, site visits, site evaluations.
  • Provides clinical schedules at least one month in advance for expected clinical rotations.
  • Provides formal didactic instruction as required (i.e. film critique and positioning labs for first year students).
  • Monitors clinical exam logs and competencies to ensure compliance with minimum program standards.
  • Maintains quality assurance records for each student through image evaluation, QA tracking and repeat rate monitoring.
  • Performs and reviews all semester clinical evaluations and monitors student progress.
  • Assists Program Director in assigning clinical grades on a semester basis.
  • Contributes to program representation through recruitment fairs, Career Day seminars, tour groups, program promotion, and continuing education.
  • Organizes all aspects of job-shadow requests, including: clearance, scheduling, and actual observation.
  • Participates in all Logan Imaging department staff forums/meetings.
  • Available to attend teaching seminars and workshops (i.e. annual AEIRS conference).
  • Researches and orders training enhancements and equipment.
  • Makes systematic observations and objective judgments about student performance
  • Meets with each student individually weekly and provides each student timely feedback about his/her performance, including suggestions for improvement
  • Works closely with college and hospital faculty and staff to aid with the clinical process at FVCC.
  • Promotes patient and student safety
  • Prepares and discusses clinical evaluations documenting the progress of each student and provides guidance for future performance
  • Provides feedback to the program about current department/hospital policies or changes in practice in the field and makes suggestions for program modifications or improvement
  • Assesses future students in observations and job shadow sites
  • Participates in continuing education seminars and in professional development opportunities in order to maintain current knowledge and skills
  • Exhibits professional behavior and serves as a role model for students
  • Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment
  • Attends related trainings, workshops, and professional development
  • Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
