The Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Physician Assistant Program at Lake Erie College is responsible for overseeing the clinical components of the program. This role involves leadership, planning, and management of clinical operations, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and providing instruction and support to students during their clinical training.

  • Coordinates and directs the clinical phase of the program under the leadership of the Program Director.
  • Maintains collaborative external relationships to facilitate valuable clinical experiences and community relationships.
  • Secures high-quality clinical sites for rotations and extracurricular learning experiences.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ARC-PA accreditation processes and standards related to the clinical phase of the PA program, including SCPE portal.
  • Leads the daily program administration of the clinical phase, including student placement, records management, CV development, and documentation.
  • Assists with verification and documentation of all clinical site requirements such as Affiliation Agreements and Licensure verification.
  • Reviews and approves preceptors and clinical sites annually.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and assessment of academic performance evaluations within the clinical phase.
  • Helps coordinate, prepare, and administer final summative assessments including written examinations and OSCE examinations.
  • Participates in coordination and conduction of site visits to PA students during clinical rotations.
  • Ensures compliance with educational objectives during the clinical phase of the program.
  • Troubleshoots concerns related to clinical year students and/or clinical sites and preceptors.
  • Assists in coordinating Special Topics lectures during Call Back Days.
  • Provides classroom instruction, preparing and presenting relevant course content.
  • Manages budget effectively.
  • Monitors program academic integrity.
  • Provides ongoing program evaluation in conjunction with other faculty members.
  • Participates in student recruitment, admission, and selection process.
  • Provides input to the PA steering committee.
  • Performs student advisement and academic counseling.
  • Provides input to faculty in designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Participates in various community and civic activities, scholarly activities, and college committees.
  • Nationally certified, state licensed physician assistant MD, or DO.
  • Minimum of a master's degree.
  • 2 years of clinical experience or teaching in an academic setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient written and verbal language skills.
  • Competent in working with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
