About The Position

Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is seeking a Clinical Coordinator for our new Nurse Program at Brownsville Campus! The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating clinical site selection, affiliation agreements, and rotation schedules for the AAS in Nursing program. This role includes supervising and evaluating clinical faculty performance, making regular on-site clinical agency visits, and attending pre-course clinical coordinating meetings with clinical faculty and agency staff. The Clinical Coordinator will provide support and mentorship to faculty in their roles as clinical educators, coordinate orientation of faculty to assigned clinical sites, and ensure inter-rater reliability in the clinical evaluation process. Additionally, the coordinator will assist in assuring faculty presence in clinical sites per teaching assignments, cover for or arrange coverage for faculty absences, and participate in curriculum development and enforcement of standards/policies for student admission, progression, probation, and dismissal. The role requires maintaining expertise in the area of specialty by attending conferences and keeping current with the latest technology and requirements in clinical nursing.

Requirements

  • Current Texas RN license
  • Minimum of a Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree, preferably in Nursing
  • If Master's Degree is in another Discipline, shall hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and at least six (6) credits of graduate semester hours in nursing
  • Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject area to be taught

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates clinical site selection, affiliation agreements, and rotation schedule for the AAS in Nursing program
  • Supervises and evaluates clinical faculty performance
  • Makes regular on-site clinical agency visits
  • Attends the pre-course clinical coordinating meetings with clinical faculty and agency staff
  • Provides support to and mentors faculty in their role as clinical educators
  • Coordinates orientation of faculty to assigned clinical sites
  • Responsible for faculty plan to ensure inter-rater reliability in the clinical evaluation process
  • Provides input into faculty evaluations
  • Assists in assuring faculty are present in clinical sites per teaching assignments
  • Covers for or arranges coverage for faculty absences from clinical site assignments
  • Participates through Faculty Assembly in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Participates through Faculty Assembly in development, implementation, and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of students
  • Maintains expertise/competence in area of specialty by attending conferences, seminars, and/or schools as required
  • Remains current with health care and nursing standards for all clinical areas
