About The Position

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized medical facility, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, and investigative techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret medical records and legal documents.
  • Strong writing skills to express thoughts clearly and logically.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate complaints and reports from various sources to determine potential violations of medical care standards.
  • Identify allegations of substandard care requiring further investigation and request medical records or interview witnesses as needed.
  • Maintain a record of interviews and prepare investigative reports in a timely manner.
  • Oversee a caseload by prioritizing work, setting goals, and responding to deadlines.
  • Prepare accurate summaries of medical records for use by complaint counsel and Board committees.
  • Analyze consumer complaints and statutory reports, evaluate physician responses, and prepare memoranda with recommendations.
  • Collaborate with complaint counsel and investigators in the disciplinary processing of cases.
  • Identify and interview qualified physicians for expert opinions on care quality.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents and presentations for hearings.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and legal requirements regarding sensitive information.
  • Attend relevant training and keep updated on nursing and medical practice developments.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with Board staff.
