About The Position

Unity Point Health is seeking a Clinical Care Attendant (RN, LPN, or CMA) for the Family Health Center in Storm Lake. This is a full-time position (0.9 FTE) requiring 36 hours per week, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for external new hires. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of medical assisting or nursing.
  • Maintain current Iowa license as a Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA), Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse.
  • Mandatory Reporter certification or obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Computer data entry experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or assist clinical procedures consistent with training and licensure under supervision of Provider in exam suite.
  • Greet and welcome patients immediately upon arrival to the clinic; escort back to exam suite.
  • Complete patient registration and associated paperwork or assist in online registration as needed.
  • Escort and check out patients upon completion of visit and assist with patient satisfaction survey if needed.
  • Obtain patients' review of systems and history, measure vital signs, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Offer patient convenience items to ensure comfort in exam suite and/or lobby.
  • Follow symptom-initiated protocols in place for clinic operation.
  • Perform labs as ordered/instructed by protocols or provider direction.
  • Review after visit summary and provide instructions to patient as instructed by Provider.
  • Call all patients back 48-72 hours post clinic visit for mandatory follow-up.
  • Maintain exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and sterilize instruments as required.
  • Process messages from patients, Providers, and pharmacies consistent with training and licensure.
  • Maintain logs and required checks as per UPC policy.
  • Attend clinic/department meetings and stay informed about organizational updates.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Comply with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines.
  • Monitor environmental conditions to secure protected health information.
  • Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service.
  • Complete all annual education and competency requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Clinic Manager.
