Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in athletic training from four-year college or university; minimum of one-year experience in orthopedics/sports injuries. Clinic experience preferred.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
  • State of Georgia Athletic Training Licensure
  • American Heart Association's Certification - BLS Certified
  • Continuing education and/or license renewal are required.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam area and prepare for exam
  • Conduct direct patient evaluations, obtain history and order x-rays as needed.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and ordering of appropriate diagnostic tests, under physician supervision.
  • Develop and implement patient treatment plans at the direction of the physician, ensuring seamless continuity of care between office visits and surgical interventions.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory and complete required forms and appropriate follow up of results.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records in accordance with clinical standards.
  • DME ordering, fitting, dispensing and education.
  • Physical Therapy order completion and referrals. HEP review and instruction as ordered by physician.
  • Educate patients about their diagnosis, treatment plans, diagnostic studies, surgical procedures, rehabilitation processes and DME, providing tailored guidance based on individual needs.
  • Assist with in-office procedures, including injections, aspirations, post-operative wound care, suture removal, dressing changes, and the application and removal of casts, splints or durable medical equipment.
  • Facilitate completion of handicapped parking permits, FMLA, disability forms, record and imaging requests, work and school excuses.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between patients and physicians, ensuring effective communication and coordination of care.
  • Coordinate consultations with other physicians.
  • Coordinate and obtain necessary prior authorizations for visco-supplementation injections, laboratory tests, and advanced imaging studies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens.
  • Prepare prescriptions for signature and e-prescribe. Telephone, eRx prescriptions to pharmacy on MD request/approval.
  • Maintain stock within modules to include notification related to reordering of necessary stock as needed.
  • Schedule pre and post op appointments and any time sensitive appointments. Coordination of work in appointments.
  • Communicate schedule changes and clinic cancellations to team members and assist team members and/or scheduling with rescheduling clinics cancelled with < 7 days’ notice.
  • Monitor biohazardous waste and prepare for disposal.
  • Obtain x-ray and imaging results and store in JOINTS, including importing/downloading outside discs into JOINTS when x-ray Team backed up or time allows.
  • Obtain diagnostic results from appropriate source and scan report into Athena and match to close out order.
  • Provide staff coverage for other clinical personnel, as needed and at the request of Clinical Management.
  • Document all aspects of visit in Athena to include Meaningful Use criteria.
  • Assist MD to enter diagnosis codes.
  • Responsible for all patient phone calls (clinical) and portal communication, ensuring proper documentation in Athena of action taken/advice given.
  • Schedule all OR cases and maintain surgery schedule.
  • Attend meetings and perform duties as requested.
  • Employees have responsibility for and are expected to adhere to all Peachtree Orthopedic Clinic policies and procedures, to strictly comply with all laws, rules, and regulations and to consistently engage in ethical patient care and business practices. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Coverage of athletic events, games and tournaments as needed and available.
  • Urgent Ortho coverage when available.
