About The Position

The position is for an Athletic Trainer at Advocate Health, which is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week. The schedule is Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm, with travel required to various clinic sites including Grafton, Sinai, and Mayfair. The role does not require working on holidays, weeknights, or weekends. The pay range for this position is $26.10 - $39.15.

Requirements

  • Current athletic training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Currently licensed or eligible for Athletic Trainer license issued by the state within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS) training within 30 days of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate medical terminology.
  • Initiate problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs injury assessments and refers patients for necessary care.
  • Communicates with patients to triage, answer questions, and instruct in self-care, prevention, and treatment.
  • Communicates with the Physician and medical team to help determine the need for special tests or services.
  • Establishes a plan of care and implements individual treatment based on evaluation results and health goals.
  • Communicates the plan of care to all involved in the patient's care.
  • Monitors and evaluates outcomes and adjusts the individualized treatment plan based on the patient's response.
  • Recognizes potential issues and advocates for patients by working with the physician and/or key professionals.
  • Identifies factors affecting the patient's physical and psychosocial comfort and attends to these needs.
  • Plans for and completes patient after visit summaries including providing written home exercise programs and patient/family teaching.
  • Completes all required documentation following department policy.
  • Performs various patient positioning, transferring, and transporting duties.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
