About The Position

As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team. 6 West Cardiac Clinical Decision Unit is an acute care progressive care unit that specializes in the care and monitoring of Cardiac, Short Stay Observation and Medical Cardiology patients. Both Providers and staff work to identify and treat a multitude of medical diagnosis to include Acute MI, Chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias as well as congestive heart failure, acute hypertension, renal failure, and diabetes just to name a few. The staff of 6 West CCDU are highly trained to provide compassionate care for our patients so they may quickly return home and enjoy quality of life. This position is full time, working 7A or 7P shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays Please note - employee must attend mandatory orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks of employment. All classes require to be in person except for 2 online classes.

Requirements

Education: High school graduate or GED.
Experience: none
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: none unless the following: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self -motivated. Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.

Responsibilities

Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
May assist with chart audits.
May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
May participate in the sitter process
Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system.
Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
Operates and maintains general office equipment.
Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
