About The Position

9 SICU - This 12-bed ICU is the primary Hospitalist Medicine ICU and the alternate unit for Hospitalist/Other Medicine CVI patients. This unit is managed by hospitalists, with consultation from Critical Care Medicine. Here is an opportunity to thrive and bring your valuable skills to life within a setting known for providing the best quality care to patients. As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team. After orientation, you will work three 12-hour Night Shifts each week with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements. Successful candidate MUST BE able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks. These classes are mandatory!

Requirements

Education: High school graduate or GED.
Experience: none
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: none; CNA preferred
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self -motivated. Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.

Responsibilities

Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
May assist with chart audits.
May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
May participate in the sitter process
Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
Operates and maintains general office equipment.
Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
